Applications
I remember starting off with some very interesting applications which I was using all the time. It is a way to learn the basics and, and I must admit, that some of them are really good.
Unfortunately, I can not provide links to them but instead, I'm going to give you a brief list. Keep in mind that all of them are for Android devices.

There is also an app called "Dualingo" which many users say is very helpful.
I personally have not used it but since it is so popular I must include it here.
Another app worth mentioning is "Tandem". With this app you get to get to exchange knowledge with others. You state your mother language and the languages you are fluent in and you pick a partner who speaks the language you wish to learn. You exchange messages and you both correct each other. Undoubtedly a remarkable app!
Chrome extensions
Imagine reading something online and you wish to see the translation right away. Well, it can be done! If you install the "Rememberry" extension for Chrome, you can click on any word or phrase and you instantly get it accurately translated. What's even more helpful is that when Rememberry extension is installed you don't even have to move your mouse to make it work. As soon as you pick (highlight) anything, the Rememberry icon appears right below it and all you have to do is click it. And to make things even better, Rememberry does not have a limit to the number of words on a phrase that it can translate. If you enjoy this extension you can contribute with translations in languages you are fluent in.
An other extension for Chrome, which translates words and small phrases is "Readlang Web Reader", although it has limited potential compared to Rememberry BUT by clicking on the icon on Chrome, and then on the Menu, the first choice "Review flashcards" will get you to their site where all the words you have translated have been stored in the form of flashcards, for you to practice. Find even more goodies there by exploring. Totally useful and recommended extension.
